Arathim (or, the Arathim Ascendency)

Comprised of many subspecies, the Arathim were a large community of sentient, intelligent, multi-legged creatures that operated and organized in a hive-mind, sometimes referred to as the Ascendency. The Arathim are an ancient race of Thra, predating – according to them – even the Gelfling. Their original home was the place now known as Domrak. When the Skeksis gave the caves to the Grottan Clan, and banished the Arathim from their homeland, thus began a long-standing grudge that would only grow until it burst into the conflict known as the Arathim Wars. After their defeat, the Arathim retreated to the shadows and were rarely seen or heard from. Most believed they are gone for good, but many believe they are merely biding their time…

Fizzgig

A Fizzgig is a furry creature about the size of a grapefruit, with a large mouth containing both a regular jaw and an inner jaw, two eyes, and four stubby legs. It rolls along the ground to move quickly. Fizzgig is Kira’s pet, but he is not unique. Fizzgig is a species raised by Pod People to herd nebrie. The Pod People domesticated the Fizzgig, a creature they occasionally used for keeping watch on plant tendrils.

Kira’s Fizzgig, raised as a pet in the Podling village, watched over Kira, always protective of her.

Gruenaks

The Gruenaks, whose civilization was characterized by its technological advancement relative to its time, were so destroyed by the Skeksis that they are considered, by most, to be extinct. The Gruenaks were strong-willed, resilient, deft and intelligent. Should any survivors remain, they might certainly make powerful allies… or dangerous enemies.

Landstriders

The Landstriders, friends or Kira, were bitter enemies of the Garthim. These swift beasts allowed Gelfling to ride them. Less powerful than the Garthim, they compensated with speed and intelligence. Their speed and slashing blows would leave a Garthim crippled before it knew it had been attacked. When a Landstrider fell in battle, its flesh was highly prized by the Skeksis, who considered it a great delicacy.

Lore

Made of living stone and powered by mysterious magical technology, the creature known only as Lore was constructed for the sole purpose of delivering an important message to the Gelfling. For many trine, Lore slept below the throne room of the All-Maudra. But even if it is one day awakened, will its message be understood?

Makraks

Makraks lived beneath the surface of Thra until the day the Crystal cracked. Forced from their home, the creatures could barely breath the air on the surface and even the rain hurt them. Driven mad with fear and pain, they were mistaken for evil creatures of destruction.

Nebrie

Nebrie are a large, semi-aquatic swamp grub, used as a food source in different ways. The Pod People use them as a source of milk, and trained Fizzgig to herd Nebrie. Roast Nebrie was a common delicacy for the Skeksis. The Nebrie also served the Pod People as a totem animal.

Nurlocs

The cave dwelling, peaceful Nurlocs were large, worm-like creatures with multiple sets of light-sensing antennae similar to eyes. They were often found living in harmony with other underground creature communities. The most notable of these co-inhabitants were the Grottan Gelfling, who resided in Domrak in the Caves of Grot.
