The Dark Crystal Fan Film Competition invited our fans
to create live-action or animated short films
inspired by the world of The Dark Crystal

The submissions were beautiful, fun, touching and hilarious. Watch them all here.

We are so impressed by all of the incredible films submitted to The Dark Crystal Fan Film Competition. Each creator’s passion for The Dark Crystal shone brightly in their films; so much so that we created Honorable Mention and Special Mention categories to acknowledge more of these talented filmmakers.

Brian Henson, Blanca Lista, and I officially judged the films, but it was a delight to screen them all with my sisters, Heather and Lisa, as well as friends in the Jim Henson Company. There are so many marvelous techniques and film genres represented: styles of puppetry, animation, cos play, even documentary! We are truly thrilled to have such talented participants!

Congratulations to the Grand Prize Winner, Kristen Dalleske, for “The Promise.” Set in a time before the classic film but after the period in which J. M. Lee’s new young adult novel takes place, the Gelfings are only just discovering the true nature of the Skeksis. The puppets were beautifully built and well performed – an amazing job of recreating the world of The Dark Crystal!

All the films, including Runner Up, Honorable Mention, and Special Mention winners can be found here. Some will really surprise you!

Thank you for sharing your passion and creativity with us.
