It’s red, right? wink

I’ve been acting on the assumption that all members of the races—Podling, Gelfling, Skeksis, urRu—have iron-rich, hemoglobin based (or something that makes it red) blood.

I don’t remember seeing much blood in the movie, even when the Skeksis are injured, so I just wanted to make sure.

The urRu appear to have grey, sandy blood.

SkekSam is right; the urRu do have this grey-ish blood when the one’s hand is injured.  Of course, this might be a strange effect from them being aliens in the first place.

There is an option that perhaps the grey was actually dark blue-black.  Apparently horseshoe crabs and other mollusks have copper-based blood rather than iron-based.  Since we are iron-based, our blood turns red when exposed to the air.  Copper-based blood is grey-white to pale yellow when inside the body and turns blue-black when oxygenated.

They don’t show what color Kira’s blood is when she’s stabbed, but I would’ve guessed it was red too.

Of course, if their blood isn’t red, then why does Kira have flushed red cheeks?  And what color would be turn if they blushed with blue blood in their veins?  Hmmm…

Jen’s wound after the garthim attack on the Podling Village is red with blood. skekSil’s blood when Jen hits him with the crystal shard is also reddish, but darker, but urSol’s is dark gray as mentioned by skekSam.

Yes, I noticed that this weekend during my latest watch-through, urGeb. I love that Kira knows exactly which moss would help. The Podling villagers are amazing with plants and animals. I wonder if that healing moss is endemic to that region or if it is more wide-spread? Where’s my Botanical-Bestiary of Thra when I need it? wink Thanks!

I thought SkekSil’s blood was really dark, almost blackish, when I saw it, but I don’t have a blueray copy. The urSkeks appear to bleed… um… dark.

I thought Skeksil’s blood looked kinda dark magenta or dark red.
But I don’t have the blu-ray copy either. :(
